9/11 Memorial Wreaths
Immediately
after the 9/11 attacks, I presented the idea that, in keeping with the tradition of making beaded memorial wreaths, our
art could serve a purpose.
To this end, beaders from
all over the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, England, Switzerland, and France donated their flowers and greenery.
These flowers were then assembled into three wreaths, by a talented and dedicated group of volunteers.
The wreath on the left has found a home in the
Pentagon.
The wreath in the center will be displayed at Ground Zero in
New York City.
The third wreath is on
display at a museum, awaiting a permanent memorial site in
Pennsylvania.
This was our labor of love, hope and healing.
A colleague,
Rosemary Kurtz, created a wonderful video of the wreaths.
