About the Author

About the Author My name is Dalene Kelly. I share
my home, in Yuma Arizona, with my husband, Van and an adorable poo-chihuahua. Although, my husband and I raised four
handsome and talented sons, our nest is now empty. Aside from beading and ganutell, my hobbies include gardening, bird watching,
reading and travelling. In the 60's, my late mother-in-law, Sally Kelly, introduced me to the art of creating flowers
using the French technique. By the mid 1980's I had become an avid beader. Then, in 1997, I retired from a 20 year career
in retail management to make designing "French" beaded patterns my career. Since then, while teaching the art of making bead
flowers, I have had many rewarding experiences and met many wonderful people. My career took on an exciting dimension when
Krause Publications, of Iola Wisconsin, published my first book, "French-Beaded Flowers, New Millennium Collection"
2001, and Bead & Button Magazine featured one of my first patterns, the Phalaenopsis
Orchid, on the cover of the Oct. 2001 issue.
In the fall of 2001, I was proud to act as co-designer and the project coordinator for the Swarovski
CrystalŽ beaded flower advertising collection.
I was also involved in the instigation and contribution to, the 911 memorial wreath project.
Since then, my work has been included in "Bead and Wire Flowers", 2004
and the "Big Book of Beautiful Beads". My second book, "More French Beaded Flowers",
2004, has also proven to be a success and has been published in Europe, by David & Charles as simply "French
Beaded Flowers". My heartfelt thanks go out to the many people, around the world, who have helped make my
career a success. Thank You!!!!!!
